Operation Christmas 2017

As your thoughts turn to what presents you want and what to  buy for your loved ones, please spare a thought for those people who have difficulty even finding enough money to buy even the essential food they and their children need to eat on a daily basis.

For nearly 10 years Light of Hope has been raising the resources to bless the poor and disadvantaged children and adults we minister to with a Christmas gift parcel.

As we celebrate Christmas, please help us to put a smile on their faces too. The children receive, new clothing, toys or age appropriate gifts , sweets and crisps, whilst the adults receive a selection of toiletries and food.

We are planning to hold a special party for our Kids Club at the end of November at which we anticipate at least 500 - 600 children will attend. We want to give them a really  fun day with  games, jumping castles, a full meal, a party bag and a LOH cap to take home with them.

This year we are aiming to distribute over 800 parcels and so we urgently need your help either by filling a parcel or donating the finances we need to buy the required items.

2016 Inspirational Awards at Mercedes Benz South Africa [thursday 26th May 2016]

Light of Hope is proud to announce that they have been selected as one of the four finalists for the Forgood Inspirational Awards.  We are privileged to be doing a presentation about our ministry to the poor and disadvantaged community we work in in East London South Africa.
We would like to take this opportunity to honour all our valued staff for their commitment and care for those infected with / or affected by HIV / AIDS, TB  and other associated diseases.  Without their commitment and selfless work we would not be able to achieve what we do in making a difference in so many lives.
We also thank our donors for all their generous support in sustaining the NPO over the past 10 years. Without your help we could not even begin to have impacted so many lives .

Operation Christmas Parcels to over 600 recipients on Duncan Village in December 2015

We want to thank all the generous donors who have yet again enabled us to give our more than 600 christmas parcels.  Thank you for helping us to make a difference to so many lives.

Recycling plastic bags [Angels of Faith support group]

 The support group have recently been receiving training in how to recycle their used plastic bags into mats and other items.  All you need is a large crochet hook and lots of plastic bags!!!!!

Mandela Day visit to the creche

We are very grateful to the Eastern Cape Liquor Board who visited the crèche and handed out toys, equipment  and prepared food for the crèche as part of their Mandela Day activities in July 2015. Despite the very wet weather we had a very enjoyable time.

 The Liquor Board also arranged for the exterior of the crèche to be painted and a new tiled floor to be laid in one of the classrooms.

Porridge shoes and JAM

We are grateful to JAM [Joint Aid Management] for the support they are giving to our crèche children in Nonceba Crèche.
Porridge: every morning the children are given fortified porridge [which contains 75% of the daily required nutrients]  We have seen a noticeable improvement in the general  health and well being of the children, which is also confirmed by our records of their weight and height measurements.

Shoes: we recently received a pair of TOMs shoes for all of our children from JAM [Photos to follow].  The children were very excited to receive their shoes.

Kids Club relaunch 'Drive Through' 2015

Last  Tuesday we drove the Light of Hope vehicle  around Duncan Village and the surrounding community to announce the re-launch of Kids Club 2015.  We were  surrounded by children and even adults as they listened to what we were saying on the loudspeaker.  We gave out biscuits to over 200 children and invited them to join us this week as we start back with Kids Club.
This week we had well over 80 turn up for our first session of Kids Club!

 

A new term begins at Nonceba Creche

The new term at Nonceba Creche has begun and the children are returning from the summer break. Up to 40 children aged 2 - 5 years will be enrolling.  Please consider donating to the creche sponsorship programme to help subsidise the fees of the children whose parents are unable to afford their fees.
